31:365 Golden wrens

These glass birds have 22carat gold leaves inside that glisten in the sun or light. They are meant to be wrens and I liked them a lot.

30:365 The Poppet head

I finally made it up to the top of the poppet head in Bendigo. This is one of the views you can see around Bendigo. I usually only go up to the first level. Peer group pressure pushed me to the top. It wasn't so bad as I thought and the views are stunning.

29:365 More hydrangeas

I took Lois to the conservatory in Bendigo and they had very nice hydrangeas of all sorts growing.

28:365 How does this work?

I saw a stand with cans of drink that say they self heat. I wondered how does this work? Could be a good starter for the science competition.

27:365 Shopping bargains

We got lots of looks from shoppers today when we bought ipads for school. A trolley full was an eye popper for many people. Felt like we needed a security guard.

26:365 Is this Australia?

Today is Australia day.
The day we celebrate being an Aussie and living in lucky Oz. I always come home from overseas thinking just how good we have it in Australia and
how lucky we are.
This is an Australian farm gate. Most farms have this style of gate for keeping stock in and unwanted visitors out.

I can't stop thinking how amazing it is to see dams totally full after years of seeing them empty.

24:365 Hydrangeas

Years ago I used to try to plant hydrangreas. Either drought or frost would kill them. I love the blue hydrangeas and haven't seen these lovely purple ones before. Katherine and Luke brought them up on Sunday for my birthday. Very nice thanks!

23:365 Pavlova

Pavlova is such a nice summer dessert. I usually put banana and passionfruit on top but today went for mixed berries. It's very light so you don't feel too full when you eat it. However a cup of tea or coffee is a good follow up to counter the sweetness.

22:365 The Waterholes

We went out walking a little late today at 9:50 am. I could feel the heat starting to rise and the morning freshness was gone. My real thermometer is Elmo as he doesn't really like water but when he's hot he goes in and wades while he drinks. The dams are all very full Which is a first for over a decade.

21:365 Look up

Ever take the time to look up? I did today in Melbourne and it still amazes me how they build these sky scrapers. This crane was on a site next door but from this angle it looks like the crane is hanging over the tall building. The sky was a wonderful blue today. Magnificent!

20:365 The Apple Effect

Why is it iPads in their boxes look so nice and make you feel good? In fact whenever you get an Apple product you get this feeling "Like a kid on Christmas morning" as uttered on twitter by someone about to open their new MacBook Pro. You can even find videos on YouTube of people opening Apple products. The Apple Effect.

19:365 Citrus Butterfly

A beautiful butterfly or perhaps butterflies have been visiting the citrus trees everyday. I've never seen these large butterflies at our house before. They are very big with a wing span of 140mm. This is the female butterfly.
I had great trouble taking a photo as it wouldn't sit still. So I have one of the shots I took and a screen shot I took from the CSIROs website.

18:365 London gear

While in London I bought a hat and also wore gloves on some days. I found gloves to be fiddly and you had to take them off more often than not so pockets were a good option if you were cold. I also wore my scarf most days. Inside everywhere was quite hot and outside wasn't too bad at around 9-10c.

15:365 On the wing homeward bound

There were so many brilliant sky colors on my flight home from London. It changed so quickly and I couldn't resist taking pics. The sunsets were beautiful and when traveling at 1000 kms/hr they sneak up quickly. Jet streams were a common sighting. I heard that QANTAS had another 747 with engine problems. Seemed okay on my flight.

14:365 BETT

So I went to BETT and walked around and around looking but not seeing much we could use.

Lots of drill and kill software, management systems. But I did find a bluetooth adapter for the Pasco sensor and the iPads and iPods.

13:365 The Tube

Each day while in London I have traveled on the tube. It's great just touch your card and off you go. I've also used buses yes the double decker red buses. They are everywhere and wind around the narrow streets just missing parked cars.

I went to Earls court and then changed trains for Olympia. It was incredible as the train was full of people going to BETT.

They give lots of safety public announcements, watch the step, take care it's slippery, don't leave your bags unattended, look out for strange people(who me).

Only problem with the tube is that you don't get to see much of London from the underground.

12:365 The Tower of London

The 365 project is much harder when you are sight seeing. You have too many pics and find it hard to just select one.
My main aim at the tower was to see the crown jewels however you are not allowed to take photos.
You could spend many days at the tower.

11:365 Cornflakes

Chocolate cornflakes at first sounded gross but when you wake up at 4:30 as I have been they are so yummy with a cup of coffee. I should have bought a bigger tub.

10:365 Sherlock Holmes

The Street was roped off police cars were everywhere and I thought , "what the..."

Then I asked someone and was informed that there was filming happening.
I later found out they were filming the next Sherlock Holmes. It looked real to me.

9:365 London Bridge

A picture a day is very hard when you have taken over one hundred photos.
I chose London Bridge because it's a great landmark and finally there was a blue sky in London. I went on the river cruise and would have liked to go all the way to Greenwich but the daylight was running out. The days are short in London.

8:365 Night lights in the afternoon

The bus tour ended up being in the dark but I can go again tomorrow. The lights were very nice although its sometimes hard to take a photo in the dark. It was 4:30pm so only afternoon. This shows Parliament and Big Ben.

7:365 First pic from London

I caught the tube from Heathrow to Finsbury Park. Darkness all the way, no chance to site see. Also at 7am it's very dark.

So as I emerged from the tube I was gob smacked by all the double decker buses and the crowds that poured out onto the path and streamed into the underground. And yes it's cold, grey and wet.

6:365 Airbus

Today's pic was taken just before boarding for London. As I write this I am flying over India. What a shame it's the night time but then I have an aisle sat right up the back. We are like sardines however I'd recommend the aisle seat over the window seat any day. Next pic should be in London.

5:365 As smooth as a baby's bottom

The lemon scented gumtree is shedding it's bark. This happens once a year. The new trunk is as smooth as a baby's bottom. Our yard looks like someone has dropped litter everywhere.

1:365 Vegemite ready

Today I was given a tube of vegemite to take to London in four days time. I think it will be enough for the trip.
Vegemite in a tube like toothpaste. Wouldn't want to get those tubes mixed up.
